After going through a series of qualifying processes, we are proud to announce that Healthy Nibbles has been awarded an ‘Investors in Young People Accreditation’. The accreditation is a unique framework, specifically created to help organisations in Scotland recruit, develop and retain young people. It gives young people a voice, supporting organisations to tap into young people’s fresh insights, new ideas, and diversity of thought. It develops both young people and their employer to become dynamic and increasingly productive.
The value of Investors in Young People lies in supporting organisations to follow a step-by-step process that addresses skills gaps, plans their current workforce and creates a talent pool for the future. It provides a clear pathway to helping organisations tackle challenges such as skills gaps, an aging workforce and customer insights.
And it has a social impact in helping to reduce youth unemployment. Since 2014 and the launch of Investors in Young People, youth unemployment in Scotland has reduced from 52,000 - to 27,000 in 2017, a decrease of 48.3%. Investors in Young People is certainly influencing this trend in the right direction.
At Healthy Nibbles, we passionately believe in giving young people a chance to excel contribute to our organisation in what is an increasingly competitive job market. One of our more recently recruits said that he had ‘struggled to be given a chance’ by other employers and that ‘Healthy Nibbles has given me the opportunity to start my career and learn about my field in a rapidly growing business’. Our young employees come from an array of different backgrounds, from those who have strong experience in the sector, such as our commercial sales manager – Jack Richardson, to University graduates and modern apprentices.
Having a young dynamic team has been crucial to our growth, hiring adaptable and driven people to a team is always likely to be beneficial and IYP agreed with this, stating they were impressed by both our staff and our attitude to employing young people. This is another award we are proud to receive that follows on from becoming a Living Wage Employer and gaining several awards such as Start-up Business of the Year for 2017 in Scotland.
