Wellness in the workplace has grown from what many critics perceived to be a fad into a priority for businesses worldwide. For example, just offering staff use of a fitness app, or increasing the amount of fruit in the office kitchen is not going to bring about a change in attitudes and behaviours towards wellness and health. Investing in exercise programmes, education and providing adequate nutrition is key to modern businesses and will be for years to come.
Adequate wellness structures are essential for businesses to get the best out of their employees. By improving health and wellbeing – productivity, efficiency and performance will be enhanced within the business. Similarly, in such a competitive job market, simply providing a salary may not help businesses get the edge in finding the best employees. Ensuring that a prospective employee will be looked after and that their health is a priority for the organisation can be the difference between success and failure in attracting and retaining the best talent for a business.
